Wine and Cheese Pairings
Wine and cheese is a classic combination and have gone hand in hand for centuries. Here is a guide to give you a starting point for pairing your favorite wines with cheese. Remember these are just our suggestions and not law—as with wine, drink (or in this case, eat) what you like.
Tips
- Pairing wines and cheeses from the same region is a good, “safe” place to start wine and cheese combinations (i.e., a good Italian Chianti and a potent Parmagiano Reggiano)
- Harder types of cheese (i.e. Cheddar or Parmagiano Reggiano) can handle more tannic wines
- Creamy cheeses, such as Brie, typically pair better with wines that have more acidity, like a Chardonnay
- Salty cheeses will pair better a sweet wine (i.e. Blue Cheese and Port)
